On Friday early in the morning was turn for the girls to start the competition. At nine o’clock the first girl was ready to do her try to the route with the rope tied, the climbing shoes on and white hands. After the six minutes that climber has for the route observation back to the isolation zone the same word was said bay all the girls: “Uf! The route is only thirty moves and the holds look not so good…”
Around ten was turn for Irati to climb. She had a strange mix of sensations running through her mind; nervous, anxiety, strength and illusion. She started the competition with good rhythm and feeling strong, she had really clear each movement of the route. In the middle of the route there was a strange movement, it wasn’t hard but Irati suddenly doubt about how to do that part of the route and pay a high price for that doubt falling down. That was the final for Irati in that competition, without semi-final. It is a stupid thing to realise how to do the movement once you are in the air. Muriel Sarcany and Christina Schmith paid for the same mistake.
The failure has a sour flavour, but sometimes we have to be ready to taste it. There are not admitted excuses like it was the first of the season or the injury. It has to be accepted that mistake and learn from it while we look to the next goal. What a beautiful way in the life when everything is going perfect, but sometimes is time to come back to the earth. |
